The first round of the Liverpool Cup was held on the 6/2/2005 at LRRCC, this was the first race at the club for 2005 and the ABC qualifying system was used (as apposed to the usual Christmas Tree format) with great success for this event.
The Xray cars were the pace setters at the event with only one Mugen MBX5 driven by Ari Bakla able to come close in lap times.
The XB8 of Theo Assa TQâ™d the event over Ari Bakla (Mugen MBX5) 2nd qualifier and Darren Cains (Xray XB8) 3rd qualifier, all top three drivers were separated by less than 1.4 secs over their best 10 minute qualifying session, the top 3 were 1 lap ahead of 4th place qualifier Tom Drygalla.
The Xray XB8 started 2005 just as it had finished 2004 with the Top Qualifier position and performing solidly against the competition, the XB8 was TQ at the last round of the Interclub series in 2004 by more than 1 and ¼ laps.
